“My Voice My Choice”

In response to the Commission's announcement on the European Citizens` Initiative, Lina Galvez, Chair of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, said:
"I welcome today's announcements by Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu and Commissioner Hadja Lahbib on the follow-up to the European Citizens' Initiative 'My vote, my choice: For safe and accessible abortions," which the European Parliament supported in a resolution adopted in December 2025. This marks the first time that the European Commission has recognized that EU funds can be used for safe abortions.
This morning, our committee adopted its opinion on the interim report on the proposal for the multiannual financial framework 2028-2034. In it, the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality called on the Commission to immediately assess the budgetary implications of meeting the demands of the European Citizens' Initiative, either by creating a separate budget line or by integrating it into an existing EU program.
