The LENA Scholarship of the BPW Network supports women living in Switzerland on their journey towards economic independence.
We support women of all ages who are facing financial or professional hardship as a result of significant life events. These may include divorce, health-related limitations, job loss, or challenges when returning to the workforce.
Women who, because of such circumstances, need to undertake education or further training in order to regain financial independence and secure their future receive our support.
The LENA Scholarship provides financial assistance as well as individual mentoring throughout the education or training programme, with the aim of facilitating a successful transition into the desired profession. Career changes, education and further training, as well as returning to employment, are all eligible for support.
The scholarship covers exclusively the costs of the education or training programme.
The LENA Scholarship is intended for women whose centre of life is in Switzerland and who wish to build their professional future here on a long-term basis.
As the scholarship is funded exclusively through donations and is intended to create a lasting impact, we consider applications only from women who hold long-term residence and work authorization in Switzerland. This ensures that our investment in education and training benefits both the scholarship recipients and Swiss society over the long term.
The scholarship is named after Lena Madesin Phillips, the founder of BPW International, who dedicated her life to promoting women's rights, equal opportunities and the economic empowerment of women.
Together, we create new opportunities for our scholarship recipients. Through financial support and personal mentoring, we help them realise their full potential and achieve their professional goals.
