Dear BPWs, Dear readers,
We've got a lot of different topics to cover this autumn. Here is the first part of our BPW Autumn Newsletter – the second part will be coming after the BPW Autumn Conference.
We hope you enjoy reading all about it.

BPWs doing politics! The 2023 national elections

The national elections will be taking place next weekend. For all those who haven't already made their decision by postal vote, but will be heading out to the ballot box, our information on "our" candidates (BPW members) is still available. We have also summarized the most important statements and information for each individual candidate on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, and especially on our website and in the latest Courrier. So if you are not 100% sure yet, have another quick look at the 2023 National Elections - BPW Switzerland.

sporti(f) – Together we are stronger!

Following this motto, BPW Switzerland and sporti(f) are pooling their networks and strengths to offer even more benefits for members!
sporti(f) is a Swiss network for female athletes and women who are involved in sport professionally or privately. Instead of dividing people up by disciplines and regions, women* are networked throughout Switzerland and across different sports.
Members of BPW and sporti(f) will be able to participate in each other's events under agreed "Bring-a-Friend" conditions from the 01/01/2024 onwards. The aim of the partnership is to promote exchanges of ideas and to expand the network to empower women, raise their visibility, and establish more role models.

The LENA Scholarship Fund: raffle for more financial independence!

We will be holding a raffle to raise funds for the LENA Scholarship Fund once again at this year's BPW Autumn Conference, so that we can support more women going through a crisis! Even those who are unable to attend the BPW Autumn Conference will have the chance to buy one or more tickets. You can find all the information about the prizes and the conditions of participation here. We would like to thank everyone who donated prizes for their generous support!

Rochester-Bern – Guest post: "How do I motivate my employees?"

Many managers find it difficult to get their employees excited. For the CAS in Leadership and Inclusion by Rochester-Bern Executive Programs, Dr. Marco Furtner explained why intrinsic motivation leads to better performance and how managers can inspire their employees.

He gives the following five tips:

Extrinsic motivation corrupts intrinsic motivation
Managers should rely on intrinsic motivators. Extrinsic motivators – such as bonuses – diminish intrinsic motivation.

The importance of goals
"Without goals, you're not going anywhere. Goals are what drive us," says Furtner. Managers who want motivated employees should therefore always work with clear goals.
Convey greater meaning
Intrinsically motivated employees believe that what they do has a greater meaning. They feel like part of something bigger and this is what drives them.

Make them feel competent
A person who feels competent is also intrinsically motivated. Managers should therefore make employees feel successful and capable.

Start with yourself
If you want to be an inspiration for your employees, it's best to start with yourself. Managers who communicate their visions authentically and engage in self-reflection are best able to get their employees enthusiastic.

Sandra Jauslin, BPW Co-President and member of the Central Board will be a guest speaker and expert on BPW Switzerland in the CAS Leadership & Inclusion with various modules.

More on the topic of "Motivating employees" and much more in the CAS in Leadership and Inclusion from Rochester-Bern. (BPW members benefit from this collective membership - more details here).
